ENJOY A GOOD LAUGH, BE THE REAL YOU AND KEEP IT SIMPLE
During the past months I have laughed a lot during working hours! If pleasure is integrated into your strategic thinking and policy, it can have a positive effect on your results. You therefore open your mind more for certain opportunities that help you to work more productively and effectively.

In a final part of the blog I want to talk about simplicity. The easier you grind things, the more credible, reliable and effective you will be with people. As everyone feels and knows, the world and the workplace are changing rapidly. In that change, it is therefore all the more important to embrace the basics that act as the basis for innovation. You can also give people simple challenges on a personal level. I received individual KPIs (in a fun way) that I had to perform during my internship. For example, I had to succeed in ping pong against my supervisor. This is a way to test assertiveness on the one hand, to integrate fun on the other and to build a nice bond with each other. Fun can mean different things to different people, but one thing that everyone seems to like is a good laugh. Humor can be a strong medicine, reduce tension and unite colleagues in stressful times. Maintaining your authenticity as employees and putting forward the values that you stand for is also extremely important. But how do you tackle this? You can motivate your employees by having fun in different ways. My mentors often encourage me to take a break (go for a walk outside, take a nap, etc.). Afterwards I can get back to work with a lot of energy and my stress level is lower. Michiel and Steffen also boosted on-the-job friendships by organizing group lunches or happy hours after work. They are talented in letting things go and make a culture as pleasant as possible to entertain you. And believe it or not, this brings a lot of work benefits.
BE AUTHENTIC
People are very curious and want to know who their boss is as a person. I have already been able to reveal the persons behind the titles (founders) and I am considered to be an equal person. I can relate to my mentors and respect them as people. Steffen and Michiel are being authentic of who they are and what they represent as individuals. They provide insight into their true intentions and do not hide behind the title of founder. In this way they also created the ability to build a good relationship with me as a trainee. They are both very approachable and their executive presence is impactful and dynamic enough to never exceed the line of respect. They manage to turn their workplace into an environment where their people are constantly growing and allowed to think big. I can easily contribute and feel appreciated; this is in balance with getting enough challenges.
We've had the pleasure to welcome Jente as the first ever intern of Innovation Jedi in 2019. Not only did she do a great job and bring to the team and the projects but in addition she made the extra effort to share her experience in her blog. As we are not that good in communication (.. as in running innovative projects) we would like to share what she lived (and how she lived it) with you as it probably gives a better idea of what and how we do it rather than plenty of marketing blabla.
